Introduction
Horse owners transporting horses from Russia to European Union must complete quite complex set of customs and veterinary procedures both in Russia and European Union.
- Before crossing border: export customs and veterinary procedures in Russia
- After crossing border: import customs and veterinary procedures in European Union
These steps can be time consuming and expensive. We help you make them as fast and economical as possible to avoid unexpected problems with missing documents, that could break your plans and schedules.
I want to import...
If you want to bring your horse from Russia to European Union:
- Passport. Does your horse have equine passport? This can be:
- red passport issued by International Equestrian Federation (FEI)
- white passport issued by Russian Equestrian Federation (or any other national federation)
- Permanent vs temporary. You need to decide whether you want to import your horse to EU permanently or temporarily. There are significant differences between the two variants:
- If you import permanently, you will pay 16% of the horse's price customs fee, which is never returned. Only after that you can sell the horse in EU.
- If you import temporary, you will also pay some fee (16-20%) but it's fully returned to you when horse returns to Russia. You cannot sell your horse if it was imported temporarily. The duration of horse's stay in EU is limited to 90 days.
Notes:
- If your horse doesn't have passport, we can still import it to European Union but it won't be allowed to travel anywhere. By law, you cannot transport a horse without passport in EU. We can make passport in EU, for details read here.
After we finished customs procedures...
After we finished procedures, you probably will like to travel further, to a competition or to your customer. Transportation of horses in European Union is allowed if you have two documents:
- horse's passport,
- horse health certificate.
The health certificate can be issued 8am-3pm on working days and they're valid for 10 days. After we finished your customs procedures we will apply for the health certificate for you. You're ready to go when we receive your certificate.
Prices
Price for our customs services is 120 EUR per one horse and 70 EUR per each next horse. This is paid in Poland after we finish your import procedure. You will get:
- document confirming that the customs procedure has been done and you're legal owner of the horse in EU territory,
- veterinary certificate for transportation of the horse from Poland to your destination place (e.g. competiton),
Only with these documents you can legally sell your horse in EU and travel to competitions all over Europe.
Price for health certificate is 20 EUR per one horse and 15 EUR per each next horse.
Additionally you will have to pay customs fee which is approximately 16% of the price declared on export procedure from Belarussia. This is paid on the border before you enter EU.
